[Bug] MacOS, M1, Arcade - Saves are gone

After a night of gaming, the next day when I start playing for the second time, my progress is gone.

When I try to load, for a brief time there are a lot of saves, but then the screen reloads and its gone.

Manifold Garden (Apple Arcade) 1.1.0.1592
macOS BigSur 11.6
Mac Mini (M1, 2020) - 8g ram
Cable network

Saved games shown for a second:
6158628404083

After a sec it is reloaded and gone:

615862d98be7d

Tried to upload de video, but it won't show in the post.

Hi radavast, my apologies I must have missed your post. Sorry it took nearly a month to reply, and sorry you are having this issue.

This is most likely an issue with Apple's GameCenter. Here are a few steps you can try:

  • Try launching the game on another device with the same Apple Arcade account. Manifold Garden is supported on most mac, iOS, iPadOS, and tvOS devices.
  • If you do not have access to any other devices, reinstalling the game on your mac may help. Delete the application and re-install it from Apple Arcade
  • Try logging out of your GameCenter account and then logging back in
  • If these don't work, you can find your local save data in: /Users/USERNAME/Library/Containers/garden.manifold.manifoldgardenmacos/Data/Library/ApplicationSupport/garden.manifold.manifoldgardenmacos

Grab all the files in that folder and email them to support@manifold.garden

Please let us know if these steps helped!

It sounds like there might be an issue with the game's save file synchronization or a temporary glitch with Apple Arcade. A few things you can try:

  1. Check iCloud Sync: Make sure iCloud sync is enabled for Manifold Garden. Sometimes game saves get stored in iCloud, and there might be a delay or issue syncing.
  2. Delete and Reinstall the Game: Reinstalling could resolve any corrupted data or save file problems. Just be sure that your save files are backed up or synced to iCloud.
  3. Apple Arcade Cache: Try clearing cache or restarting Apple Arcade. It could be a temporary issue with how Apple Arcade is managing save files. If none of these work, contacting Apple or the game developer might help.

It’s frustrating to hear about saves disappearing on the MacOS M1 version of Arcade. I’ve encountered issues like this before, and while it might be tied to the game itself, it’s worth checking your system settings too. Sometimes, network problems can affect game data synchronization. If you’re having Wi-Fi connection issues, you can find some useful tips about what to do if macbook says it's connected to wifi but no internet . Additionally, ensuring your MacOS and the game are fully updated might help restore lost saves. Let’s hope this gets resolved soon!

I love a lot of arcade games from different developers, but once upon a time I had to go to development experts myself. And it was difficult to know who to trust and who not to trust, because the development of an arcade game is also a difficult thing. Luckily I found Aloa Blogger and I recommend everyone to check it out. It's really cool professional advice on who to choose as a developer. You don't see that a lot these days. Good luck.
